Dear SiT!*

I hope you are aware that it's your fault that I cant do anything useful in this room which you have been so kind to rent out to me for 2300NOK pr month (390$). If you wonder why it is your fault, I can inform you that it is impossible to study in the room /flat...whatever.. because:

1. ..there's always some kind of tractor or excavator (cool word) or the cleaner ladies with their cars outside my window with their engines running for hours and hours without doing anything apparent..
2. ...you have replaced the old, uncomfortable sofa beds with new, wonderful beds from which you dont want to get up, and on which you want to lie and read, and consequently keep falling asleep in.
3. ...there is a cable in my room which I can put into my laptop and suddenly I have wonderful access to internet - time thief over all time thieves...(english word??)
4. ...there is cable TV in your appartments (which I never had in my life), and Martha has provided our flat with no less than 2 TV's.
5. ...you give me a room in a flat with cool people who I'd rather sit and chat with in the kitchen than sit alone in my room and read.
6. ...you have running water in the taps, and hot showers so that time is wasted with different bathroom activities.

That were all the complaints for today. :-) Once again weblogg has stolen my attention.

Which Witch

The first burned CD I ever got, was a Which Witch CD (the musical mentioned in the last blog entry,..). I got it from my friend Irene for my confirmation. It had 46 songs from the musical. Before I got the CD from her, we hadn't done anything but listen to her CD and watch the movie from the staging of the musical in London over and over again. We knew all the songs by heart, we could play all the parts og we sang and acted us through the play night after night. There was always a discussion about who should play who. Irene always wanted to be Anna Regina, the evil sister of Bishop Daniel who ruined everything for the innocent Maria, by poisoning her brother Daniel, and blamed Maria for doing it, and marking her as a witch. In the London staging, Anna Regina was a pale woman with black hair (as all the bad guys have) while Maria was the innocent, dressed in white with blond hair, and because of that, Irene thought that the role of Maria was best suited for me. We played the parts with great credibility, and identified with Marias tragic fate, Anna Reginas wickedness and Daniels cowardice who didnt dare to do anything to save his love (Maria,...in case u didnt get that), even though he knew she was innocent. Men.... you cant trust them!!
8 years after my confirmation, Which Witch is staged in Trondheim, the concert version though, but still! I was sooo going! I sat there excited listening to the overture which was exactly identical to my CD. With the program covering my mouth I was ready to sing along to all the songs I still knew word by word. BUT - song after song came with the original title, same music... But completely different words!!! Why? Everywhere they had changed the lyrics, changed words and sentences and making the songs unrecognizable. The "new" songs delievered the same message as the original versions, but what is the point of changing: "All evil comes from the Devil within" to "All evil comes from the heart from within"!!!??

But the music was great, really good singers and if I wasn't a Which Witch freak as a teenager, it would have been a good concert.

But Anna Regina was blond!!! BLOND!

Swahili

New proverbs we have learned, translated into Norwegian... (yeah this wont work) or English... by our multicultural teacher:

A new thing is joy even if it is a sore.

Even if they fry, we are under the broken pot.

If you want something under the bed, you have to bend down.

:-)

Can you hear the people sing...

I've been at Les Miserables!! I have heard the people sing... eh. Lately I've been really depressed after I got to know that Les Miserables in the Trøndelag Theatre was sold out. But suddenly today I had a missed call from Øivind. Hmm. And then an SMS: Do you want to go to Les Mis tonight? 2 tickets available! Yippiee, said Yngvild! I have a reputation for being a musical-lover, which is concidered weird by most people. But it's not weird!! It's fantastic, super and wonderful!! :-)
And soon I'm going to a Which Witch-concert! (strange Norwegian musical with a bad reputation, about witches in Rome in the middle ages...) hihi.

(translating feels so stupid....)

Free chocolate...

I got a free chocolate on REMA1000 (cheaper groceries store than Kine works at..) on Saturday. I was buying food and some Saturday night snacks actually, and after the lady at the counter told me the price and I was just about to swipe my card, she pulled out a huge Fazer chocolate bar from underneath the counter and said: And then you get this. For free! I was shocked of course, is it really possible to get a 200grams chocolate bar at REMA1000 in todays rich, capitalist oil-Norway? (bad translation, yes Norwegian people reading this just to look for mistakes....)
I was so suprised that I had to stay and look at all the other people shopping from the same woman, to see if they also got a chocolate. But they didn't. Maybe I was customer nr. 1 000 000? Felt like Charlie in the chocolate factory where I was the lucky reciever of the magic chocolate bar with silver wrapping... And on a Saturday! You dont even have to feel guilty for eating it.
As you might understand, this was a great experience on a rather boring, cold Saturday in March.
There is still hope for Norway when we have such sweet cashiers in REMA1000!

Mambo vipi to Flo!

I decided, hounoured as I was after hearing that Florian wanted to read my blog, to have a parallell one where the postings are in English. I'll try my best to translate it in the best possible way.....as interesting as my life currently is, I really understand the frustration of my non-norwegian friends must feel when they are being brutally cut off from all the action in the life of Yngvild. (in case you didn't notice, that is a little something called irony...i like that a lot.)
So yeah.
Now I cant even keep secrets from foreign people.... Karibuni sana thanks to Florian blond :-)
