Ikke no' tull!
The heading cant be translated... Im home for Easter in Vadsø. About time since I havent been here since August. Nice.....
Yesterday Guro, Guros little brother, Guros friend and me started our little skiing expedition accross the white, sparkling plains into the "mountains" around Vadsø. Our goal was Guros family's cabin and the yearly rack of lamb ribs (pinnekjøtt/pinochet) dinner! If that is not motivation enough ... right FLo? the skiing conditions were perfect and the 7km long trip was a piece of cake, even though someone misunderstood and tried to climp the dwarf trees we have here with the skiis on.
We arrived at the cabin and played some rounds of Yatzy and Scrabble, while "daddy" was in the kitchen cooking. During dinner, we learned about nuclear waste, aquavit (terrible Norwegian form of destilled spirits) and liqour, and what you can do with these things. Very educational.
After dinner, we entered the sauna as real...ehm...finnish decendants, but the guest from the South and Yngvild were not so enduring, so there were frequent trips out on the porch where 3 freezing cold beers were strategically placed. And if you think the beer goes quicker to your head when your body temperature is 80 degrees celcius, you are right! The snow was too hard to bathe in, but the snowmobile was nice to sit on and take interesting photos... :-)
After such hardships, going to sleep in soft beds seemed very easy. Today we dragged ourselves down from the mountain, not as good weather and conditions as yesterday, but here I am in front of the computer after over 24 hours absence with my moms Easter candy by my side.
Today is the day for another Easter tradition - check out Vadsø by night! Hurraaa.... :-)
